NYPAN calls on Biden To Act on Iran Nuclear Deal
Iran Nuclear Deal: NYPAN calls on President Biden To Act Now
by Kathryn Levy
Two months into the Biden administration, the fate of the Iran Nuclear Deal remains uncertain. Rather than abide by the campaign promise to return the U.S. to the deal, the Biden team has still not reversed Trump's failed, unjustified and unilateral withdrawal from the peace agreement and his cruel policy that imposed crushing sanctions on a nation of 83 million people amidst a global pandemic.
The longer Iran and the U.S. remain in a political deadlock, the greater the risk of escalating tensions in the Middle East and of doing irreparable harm to the road to diplomacy. That is why NYPAN has decided to participate in the important #ReSealTheDeal Week of Action, co-sponsored by the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) and peace groups across the country. We hope that each of you will join us.

Beginning March 29th, thousands of pro-diplomacy Americans will raise their voices in support of the JCPOA. Each day will be marked by different actions YOU can take to put the political pressure we need on Congress and the Biden administration to take bold, decisive action to return to the peace deal.
Together, we can urge Biden to turn the page on Trump’s failed “maximum pressure” campaign and make it clear to the new administration that we must save the JCPOA and re-pave the path to diplomacy with Iran.
Not every progressive group in New York believes that foreign policy issues concerning peace and justice are relevant to its agenda, and thus are not willing to work on such a formidable challenge. However, we at NYPAN believe those issues are inseparable from our goals. From our work on defeating the IDC to our successful resistance to the cancellation of the presidential primary last May, NYPAN has always been committed to fighting the big, important battles.
