Man-made climate change is a clear and present danger to the viability of human life on planet earth. NYPAN is committed to advocating for a science-based, democratic energy policy whereby New York State makes a rapid, equitable, and complete transition off of fossil fuels to combat climate change.

Global Justice

The Global Justice Committee builds on work NYPAN has done over the past two years for peace and justice in Israel and Palestine. We are working to stop the slaughter in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon, while trying to prevent a catastrophic war with Iran. We also recognize that Israel, through organizations like AIPAC, is having a major impact on our democracy, an impact that is likely to grow.

We create educational forums, lobby Congress and fight for candidates targeted by AIPAC. We also work against legislation designed to curtail our basic rights of free speech and political dissent. We are determined to defend not only our progressive agenda but human rights for all and the foundational principles of democracy here and abroad.

Healthcare

The NY Health Act is NYPAN’s #1 legislative priority this year. Again. The legislation is a single-payer healthcare bill that would provide truly comprehensive healthcare – medical, dental, optical, hearing, mental health and prescription drugs and even long term care – to every resident of the state, regardless of their immigration status, pre-existing conditions, sexual orientation, age, employment status or anything else. Services would be financed using a progressive contribution, and everyone would pay according to their ability to pay. MORE HERE
