Voting machine update
Did the voter guide that you got mention the ExPressVote XL? Call your Board of Elections and ask about the machines. If not yet purchased and if they hear from enough people, tell them NO EXPRESSVOTE. Better, and less expensive, options are the Clear Ballot ClearCast and ClearCast Go or the Hart InterCivic eScan, which both use hand marked paper ballots. There’s no hand marked paper ballot with the touch screen ExPressVote XL.

Suffolk County is moving forward with the 34 million dollar purchase of ExpressVote XL voting machines despite the fact that there has been no competitive bidding process as they promised there would be - and these are undesirable machines. The vote is Tuesday. Please call Suffolk County and urge them to vote no on Appropriations 1026. The general number is 631.853.4070. Legislators are listed here.
